Death toll from floods in Texas rises to 120 — media outlet

At least 36 children and 59 adults have died in Kerr County, the area most devastated by the flooding

NEW YORK, July 10. /TASS/. At least 120 people have died in deadly flooding in the US state of Texas, the NBC News TV channel reported on Thursday.

Earlier, it was reported about 109 deaths. At least 172 people remain unaccounted for due to the flooding, search and rescue operations are ongoing, the TV channel said. At least 36 children and 59 adults have died in Kerr County, the area most devastated by the flooding.

On July 6, US President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency in Kerr County. On July 11, he announced his plans to visit the flood-hit state. Trump said that federal authorities were supporting local services in dealing with the aftermath of the disaster.

The last time such severe flooding occurred in the United States was in September 2024, when rivers in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina overflowed their banks due to a hurricane. As a result, more than 230 people were killed.

American media outlets wrote, citing eyewitnesses to the disaster in Texas, that they never received warnings about the looming emergency. However, the White House claims that the National Weather Service issued advance flood warnings.
