Search and rescue operation ends at plane crash site in Russia’s Ivanovo Region

Ivanovsky District Head Sergey Nizov said earlier that a rescue team was working at the site

MOSCOW, March 12. /TASS/. Units of the Russian Emergencies Ministry have completed a search and rescue operation at the site of an Il-76 plane crash in the Ivanovo Region, the regional government said in a statement.

"Emergencies Ministry units have completed a search and rescue operation at the plane crash site," the statement reads.

Ivanovsky District Head Sergey Nizov said earlier that a rescue team was working at the site.

An Ilyushin Il-76 military cargo plane crashed in the Ivanovo Region earlier on Tuesday. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, one of the plane’s engines caught fire during takeoff. There were eight crew members and seven passengers aboard the aircraft; their fate remains unknown.
