Firefighters extinguish fire at plane crash site in Ivanovo Region — governor

No damage was reported in nearby settlements

MOSCOW, March 12. /TASS/. Firefighters have extinguished a fire at the site of an Il-76 plane crash in Russia’s Ivanovo Region, Governor Stanislav Voskresensky said.

"The fire at the crash site has been extinguished. No damage was reported in nearby settlements," the regional government quoted him as saying.

An Ilyushin Il-76 military cargo plane crashed in the Ivanovo Region earlier on Tuesday. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, one of the plane’s engines caught fire during takeoff. There were eight crew members and seven passengers aboard the aircraft; their fate remains unknown.
