MADRID, February 26. /TASS/. Guinea Bissau's President Umaro Cissoko Embalo, who will arrive in Russia on a state visit on February 26, intends to discuss joint extraction of mineral resources on the territory of the African republic with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Lusa news agency reported citing sources.
Guinea Bissau may offer joint development of oil, gas, phosphates and bauxites reserves with Russia, sources said. "Embalo will also discuss the possibility of training the country’s civil servants <…> in Russia and purchase of equipment for patrol and reconnaissance work at sea," the agency quoted one of sources as saying.
Putin and Embalo agreed on continuing personal communication during a telephone conversation this January. They also discussed expansion of trade-economic, investment and humanitarian cooperation. The previous face-to-face meeting between the presidents took place on May 9, 2024 in Moscow.
