HAIKOU /China/, September 28. /Sanya Tourism Promotion Bureau (South China's Hainan Province) has organized presentations and symposiums in Russia to familiarize the public with the potential of this leading Chinese resort. According to a statement issued by the bureau, a series of events were held in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The efforts are expected to expand not only the number of channels to popularize Sanya and attract many Russian tourists, but also to strengthen ties between tour operators in Russia and China. Special emphasis, as noted, was placed on strengthening friendly interaction at the media level.
Representatives of the China National Tourist Office in Moscow, the Moscow Tourism Committee, the Russian Tourism Association "World without Borders", about 60 specialized companies of the Russian Federation were invited to the presentation.
Sanya Tourism Promotion Bureau clarified that it plans to hold similar events in the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Japan, as well as in the Macao Special Administrative Region of China and the Chinese island of Taiwan in the near future. Strengthening contacts in these areas is expected to accelerate the process of Hainan's transformation into the "tourist Mecca" of East Asia and stimulate the development of the local consumer sector.
Sanya is China's leading resort, home to more than 1 million people. In 2022, its gross product totaled 84.71 billion yuan (approximately $12.2 billion). Its average annual temperature reaches 25.4 degrees Celsius and its coastline is over 200 kilometers long. There are 19 bays and about 40 islands suitable for tourism in the adjacent water area; all this allows the local administration to successfully develop yachting and beach tourism.
In 2012-2019, Russia was among the three countries that provided Sanya with the maximum inflow of foreign tourists, according to statistics. In pre-pandemic 2019, this resort city was visited by more than 300 thousand vacationers from the Russian Federation. Their most active inflow is annually observed in March-April and from September to December.
