Russia lost confidence in dollar as payment currency — Finance Minister

The world is not keeping an eye on the ruble rate because the ruble zone "is not so significant" as regards the global scale of the economy

TASS, February 6. Russia has lost confidence in the dollar as the payment currency, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in the air on the Channel One.

"The dollar, the euro, the pound sterling and so on - they are the so-called reserve convertible currencies deemed to be the top payment units. The situation showed that this is an absolutely unreliable instrument that can be simply canceled suddenly. Therefore, we have no confidence in payment units of such kind. It was lost," Siluanov noted.

The world is not keeping an eye on the ruble rate because the ruble zone "is not so significant" as regards the global scale of the economy, the Minister said. Russia is not monitoring the US dollar rate anymore, Siluanov added.
