BERLIN, March 6. /TASS/. Ukraine has repeatedly breached written safety guarantees to the employees of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) who are observers at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, said Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna.
"The Ukrainian side has clearly demonstrated its true stance towards the presence of the IAEA staff at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and its safety, primarily during rotations. On December 10, 2024, a Ukrainian drone attacked an IAEA vehicle," he said at a session of the board of governors of the International Nuclear Safety, Security, and Safeguards in Ukraine.
"On February 2, Ukraine once again and blatantly violated its guarantees... The Ukrainian military <...> attacked a Russian convoy, where Agency employees hoping to leave the station were that day with a massive use of drones, artillery, and mortars."
He explained that before each regular rotation, the Russian and Ukrainian military provide the IAEA with written safety guarantees and commit to ensuring a "regime of silence."
