MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. Bomb squads from the battlegroup Center are removing mines the liberated town of Selidovo in the Donetsk People's Republic, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Servicemen from the bomb clearing unit of the battlegroup Center are on a mine clearing mission in the settlement of Selidovo in the Donetsk People's Republic, which was liberated during the special military operation," it said.
The squads remove mines from roads, single-family and multi-storey buildings. The work is performed in several shifts in groups of 3-4 specialists. According to the ministry, Ukrainian military formations that were driven out of Selidovo continue to remotely mine roads and access pathways by dropping anti-tank and anti-personnel mines on the city from industrial-type drones at night.
It has been confirmed that Ukrainian forces rigged with mines water wells and approaches to water wells before retreating, so that to inflict the greatest possible damage on the civilian population of the town.
According to the ministry, when an explosive object is found, sappers assess the possibility of removing it for neutralization. If a removal is impossible, they destroy it at the scene by the method of overhead charge. If the object does not represent immediate danger, demolitions specialists take it to a prepared location for subsequent destruction.
