MOSCOW, March 16. /TASS/. Russia’s battlegroup East has hit a number of strongholds of the 1st Ukrainian presidential brigade and the 128th territorial defense brigade, the battlegroup’s spokesman, Alexander Gordeyev, told TASS.

"Strikes by bomber aviation and artillery fire, heavy flame-throwing systems hit strongholds and places of accumulation of manpower of the 1st Ukrainian presidential brigade and the 128th territorial defense brigade near Staromayorskoye, Urozhaynoye and Volnoye Polye," Gordeyev said.

According to him, the Russian armed forces improved their positions along the line of engagement, repelled one enemy counterattack and thwarted the enemy's attempts to conduct combat reconnaissance and reinforce the rotation at the forward positions. "Up to 30 enemy servicemen and two pickup trucks were destroyed over the past 24 hours," the spokesman added.
