BRUSSELS, March 20. /TASS/. Hungary has once again refused to support the final document at the summit of the EU heads of state and government on Ukraine support, which was approved by 26 other countries, a senior EU official told reporters on the sidelines of the ongoing meeting in Brussels.
"Conclusions on Ukraine were approved in the format of 26 countries using the same formula as at the previous summit," he said.
At an emergency EU summit on March 6, Hungary refused to sign off on a final document on Ukraine because, among other things, it disagreed with the EU's principle of "peace through force." As a result, the EU attached to the final document a separate text supporting Ukraine, signed by 26 countries.
An EU diplomat also revealed that the summit broached ways to "influence the negotiations" on Ukraine led by the United States. "EU leaders are discussing the best ways to influence the US-driven negotiation process on Ukraine," the diplomat said. According to him, the discussion on Ukraine lasted just two hours, with Vladimir Zelensky addressing the summit participants via video link during the meeting.
