DUBAI, March 15. /TASS/. Israeli troops have shot dead one Palestinian and injured another during raids in the West Bank, the Qatari Al Jazeera TV channel reported.
According to the channel, Israeli soldiers opened fire on a 21-year-old Palestinian in the town of Salim east of Nablus. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the young man died before medical professionals could provide him with assistance. Another 18-year-old Palestinian was injured during a raid in the town of Beita.
It was also reported that servicemen of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had arrested two Palestinians aged 16 in the town of Silwad located northeast of Ramallah.
On January 21, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the launch of a large-scale counterterrorist operation in the vicinity of the West Bank city of Jenin dubbed "Iron Wall." He stated that the operation aims to "defeat terrorism in Jenin," where radical Palestinian groups are active, and to bolster security in that general area.
