A senior Ukrainian official told the Financial Times that the delegation was cutting its trip short instead of holding a second round of talks on October 10

LONDON, October 10. /TASS/. Two-day talks between US and Ukrainian officials in Miami, Florida were derailed by an energy deal reached by the presidents of Russia and the United States, The Financial Times reported, citing sources.

According to the report, US President Donald Trump’s announcement of the deal took Ukrainian negotiators by surprise. A senior Ukrainian official told the newspaper that the delegation was cutting its trip short instead of holding a second round of talks on October 10.

The US, Ukraine, the E3 countries (the United Kingdom, France and Germany), the European Commission and NATO held talks in Miami on October 9. Kiev was represented by Vladimir Zelensky’s chief of staff Kirill Budanov (designated in Russia as a terrorist and extremist), his deputy Sergey Kislitsa, leader of the Servant of the People party’s parliamentary faction David Arakhamia and Foreign Intelligence Servcie chief Rustem Umerov. The Axios news website reported that US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner told Ukrainian officials Washington could restrict Kiev’s access to US intelligence if Ukraine refused to make concessions.
