LONDON, March 18. /TASS/. In the weeks since Donald Trump took office as president of the United States, Ukraine has turned from a US ally to a customer, the Economist writes, citing a Ukrainian government source.
In an article on the Russian Armed Forces’ successful operations in the Kursk Region, the magazine notes that Ukraine is divided on the role that Trump’s move to limit intelligence sharing with Kiev and his demands for Vladimir Zelensky to agree to a ceasefire played in the current developments.
A Ukrainian government source told the magazine that developments in the Kursk Region simply coincided with Trump’s decisions on the Ukraine conflict. "What is clear is that Trump can’t stand us," the source pointed out, "and that in seven weeks we have switched from being allies to customers, and with largely imagined debts."
Russia’s borderline Kursk Region came under a massive attack from Ukraine on August 6, 2024. According to the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, 86% of the territory occupied by Ukrainian troops has been liberated. In some areas, Russian forces have crossed the border into the Sumy Region. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the enemy has lost over 68,000 troops since fighting began in the Kursk area.
