WASHINGTON, March 9. /TASS/. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on March 10-12 to discuss ways of peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine with the Ukrainian delegation, US Department of State Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a written statement.
"Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia March 10-12 for talks with Ukrainian counterparts to advance the President’s goal to end the Russia-Ukraine war. While in Jeddah, he will also meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to discuss ways to advance shared interests in the region and strengthen the U.S.-Saudi relationship," the statement reads.
Apart from that, according to the spokesperson, Rubio will meet with the Group of Seven top diplomats in Canada on March 12-14 to discuss "conflicts in the Middle East and Europe, cooperation in Africa and the Indo-Pacific, and stability in the Western Hemisphere."
Vladimir Zelensky said earlier that he would not take part in the meeting with the US delegation in Saudi Arabia on March 11. The Ukrainian delegation will include Zelensky’s office chief Andrey Yermak, Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steven Witkoff said earlier that delegations from Kiev and Washington planned to meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss Ukrainian reconciliation. On March 7, White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz confirmed his participation and said that Rubio would also take part.
