MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. The combat near Krasnoarmeysk (referred to as Pokrovsk in Ukraine) is "incredibly brutal" for the Ukrainian armed forces, Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky stated on his Telegram channel.
"The fighting is incredibly brutal," he wrote following his meeting with the 38th marine infantry brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Krasnoarmeysk area. "In this situation, our main goal is to strengthen defenses, including supplying units with a sufficient quantity of ammunition continuously."
The Ukrainian General Staff also reported that the "situation on the frontline remains challenging," highlighting the Krasnoarmeysk, Kurakhovo, and Vremevsky areas.
The city of Krasnoarmeysk is a major logistics hub for the Ukrainian group in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). A former Verkhovna Rada member, Igor Mosiychuk (listed as a terrorist and extremist in Russia), noted that the loss of the city would be a catastrophe for Ukraine. On December 7, a source in the security services told TASS that the Russian Armed Forces had gained control over the Krasnoarmeysk-Dnepropetrovsk road, which is essential for supplying the Ukrainian battlegroup in Krasnoarmeysk.
