DUBAI, April 4. /TASS/. Dozens of civilians have been killed and injured in Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling on areas in the Gaza Strip over the past day, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
According to it, at least five Palestinians have been killed and another 10 people have been injured in Israeli bombardment targeting residential blocks in Khan Yunis. Also, Israeli warplanes pounded the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, killing three locals and injuring many others. Meanwhile, Israeli artillery shelled Tal al-Hawa, al-Zaytoun and Sheikh Ijlin neighborhoods in the city of Gaza, injuring several, mostly women and children.
In all, the death toll among civilians killed since the Israeli aggression started in Gaza has risen to 32,975, with 75,577 people being wounded in the Palestinian enclave.
Tensions flared up in the Middle East after the infiltration of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, accompanied by the killing of residents of border settlements and the taking of hostages. Israel declared a total siege of Gaza and began to conduct strikes on the sector as well as certain areas of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes have also been reported in the West Bank.
