European Commission does not see EU grain market destabilizing by Russia

The proposal of the European Commission to introduce tariffs on imports of Russian and Belarusian grain is a preventive measure, a high ranking EU official said

BRUSSELS, March 22. /TASS/. The European Commission has not seen signs of the EU grain market destabilizing by Russia so far but it has concerns about that due to the rise of grain production in Russia, a high ranking EU official told reporters.

"We do not see the market destabilization at the moment. However, considering these volumes, considering the increase of production volumes in Russia, we see that Russia has the possibility to destabilize the EU market if it wants to do this," the official said.

The proposal of the European Commission to introduce tariffs on imports of Russian and Belarusian grain is a preventive measure, he added.
