VILNIUS, October 28. /TASS/. Parts of the damaged communications cable between Estonia and Finland have been lifted from the sea bottom and sent for an examination, the website of the Estonian government-owned broadcaster ERR reported.
The report said the results of the examination haven’t been disclosed yet. The Estonian prosecutor’s office released photographs of the damage on Friday.
An Estonian prosecutor said all theories of the incident are being investigated, including that the damage to the cable was done by the anchor of a Hong Kong-flagged container ship that was traveling in the area.
On October 9, Estonia and Finland discovered that the Balticconnector undersea natural gas pipeline between the countries had sustained damage, along with a telecommunications cable that runs close to the pipeline.
