BEIJING, February 22. /TASS/. China calls for finding the organizers of the sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines, otherwise they may believe in their own impunity and dare to take new actions, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a briefing on Wednesday.
"If we do not establish all the circumstances and those responsible for the destruction of the Nord Streams, these conspirators will have even more opportunities. They will believe that they can do anything they want, up to committing even more terrible acts," he said.
The spokesman stressed that "explosions at the Nord Stream pipelines is not only an economic problem, it's also a problem of public welfare and to an even greater extent a political problem, which concerns the security and stability of Europe."
"In addition, the explosion occurred against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis, and it has undoubtedly escalated tensions in the region and further exacerbated confrontation and antagonism, further complicated dialogue and negotiations, and made hopes of building a balanced, effective and sustainable security arrangement in Europe even more uncertain," Wang Wenbin pointed out.
"A growing number of circumstances suggest that what happened was not an accident but the realization of planned intent," the diplomat added.
