UNSC to hold meeting over Nord Stream blasts on February 21

The Security Council is expected to vote a Russian draft resolution on the investigation of the explosions

UNITED NATIONS, February 20. /TASS/. The United Nations Security Council will gather for a meeting on the acts of sabotage at the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines at 3:00 p.m. (11:00 p.m. Moscow time) on Tuesday, February 21, according to the Council’s program released on Monday.

The Security Council is expected to vote a Russian draft resolution on the investigation of the explosions.

Earlier, Russia suggested this meeting be called on February 22 but several countries asked to reschedule it, since the UN General Assembly emergency special session on Ukraine begins at this time.

The resolution suggests that the secretary general set up an independent international commission of lawyers to investigate the incidents.

China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Zhang Jun has earlier spoken in support of the resolution.
