Christodoulides and Mavroyiannis to face each other in Cyprus’ runoff presidential poll

Cyprus’ former Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides supported by centrist parties and former negotiator of the Greek Cypriot community in the Cyprus talks, former Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the UN Andreas Mavroyiannis supported by leftist forces will face each other in the runoff presidential election to be held in Cyprus on February 12, a TASS correspondent said on Sunday, citing data from the elections’ press center.

Thus, after counting 99.5% of votes, Christodoulides was scoring 32.0% of votes while Mavroyiannis was winning 29.6%.

Averof Neofytou, leader of the ruling Democratic Rally (DISY) party, was supported by 26.1% of voters and already recognized his defeat by having congratulated the winners.
