KIEV, January 25. /TASS/. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said early on Wednesday that unnamed ‘European colleagues’ were working on the issue of delivering US-made F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
In his account on Facebook (outlawed in Russia as belonging to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia), the Ukrainian top diplomat published what he claimed was a conversation with an unnamed ‘European colleague.’
According to the publication, the official tells Kuleba that he was beginning to work on providing Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets.
"He knows what to do," Kuleba wrote about his interlocutor.
On January 20, another meeting of defense ministers from approximately 50 countries was held at Germany’s USAF Ramstein Air Base where further aid to Kiev was discussed. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, addressing the meeting via video link, asked the Western top military officials to speed up the deliveries of tanks, artillery and air defense systems to Kiev. Additionally, he hoped to obtain F-16 fighter jets and long range-missiles at future meetings.
The issue of deliveries was earlier raised during debates in the parliament of the Netherlands. Later, the country’s prime minister Mark Rutte said that this issue was out of question at the moment, but added that nothing is ruled out.
