Slovenian top diplomat calls on Kosovo authorities to normalize relations with Serbia

Kosovo is called on to implement its commitments and respect established principles in the global environment

LJUBLJANA, January 16. /TASS/. Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon calls on the authorities of the unrecognized Republic of Kosovo to normalize relations with Serbia, according to a Twitter statement issued by Slovenia’s Foreign Ministry on Monday following Fajon’s meeting with her Kosovo counterpart Donika Gervalla.

"Slovenia will continue to support Kosovo’s further progress and regional and international integration. We call on Kosovo to implement its commitments and respect established principles in the global environment, and to normalize relations with Serbia," the statement reads.

The Slovenian Press Agency reported on January 12 that Fajon would meet with Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Donika Gervalla, President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti during her first visit to the unrecognized state on February 16. According to the news outlet, the Slovenian politician planned to discuss bilateral relations, domestic political developments in Kosovo, the situation in the region and the unrecognized state’s activities in the context of Euro-Atlantic ties.
