Karine Jean-Pierre to succeed Jen Psaki as White House spokeswoman on May 13

WASHIGNTON, May 5. /TASS/. White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki will leave office on May 13, she will be succeeded by Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House said in its statement Thursday.

"Karine not only brings the experience, talent and integrity needed for this difficult job, but she will continue to lead the way in communicating about the work of the Biden-Harris Administration on behalf of the American people," US President Joe Biden said, according to White House press office. "I want to say thank you to Jen for raising the bar, communicating directly and truthfully to the American people, and keeping her sense of humor while doing so."

Currently, Jean-Pierre serves as Principal Deputy Press Secretary and Deputy Assistant to the President. According to the White House statement, she is a long-time member of the Biden time, back since the Obama administration. She also worked on NBC and MSNBC, she served as Regional Political Director during the Obama administration and served in the New York City Council.

In May 2021, Psaki said that she could leave office in a year. Before becoming the White House spokeswoman during the Biden administration, she served as White House and Department of State spokeswoman during Obama administration. In particular, Psaki gained notoriety for her resonance remarks about Russia and Ukraine.
