KIEV, March 28. /TASS/. The Ukrainian Opposition Platform - For Life party announced a suspension of its activity, according to a statement on the party’s website published by Vadim Rabinovich, its co-chairman and a lawmaker.
"The party’s activity has been suspended! We now have to forget about ratings and all of the party’s interests. All that matters today is peace," according to the statement dated March 27. "All political interests must be forgotten, all disputes stopped!"
According to Rabinovich, all party members need to focus on the work to achieve peace and help people.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on March 20 announced the suspension of the activities of some opposition parties allegedly associated with the Russia for the period of martial law. They include the Opposition Platform - For Life, Party of Shariy, the Nashi (Ours) party, the Opposition Bloc, Left Opposition, the Union of Left Forces, Derzhava, the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine, the Socialist Party Ukraine, Socialists and the Vladimir Saldo Bloc. It was reported on March 21 that the Justice Ministry of Ukraine would file lawsuits to ban the activities of these parties within a few days.
The Opposition Platform - For Life immediately stated that the decision to suspend its activities "has no legal grounds, and all accusations against the party were invented by the government in order to justify their inappropriate actions."
"The only explanation for this move by the government is illegal political raiding and unscrupulous political struggle with its main opponent," the party stated, adding that the decision will be challenged.
