Diplomat slams rumors that Moscow OKing MH17 talks means ‘admitting responsibility’

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova spoke in the wake of certain media reports on the issue

MOSCOW, February 14. /TASS/. Russia’s consent to hold trilateral consultations with the Netherlands and Australia on the crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 over Ukraine in no way means that it plans to take responsibility for that tragedy, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters on Thursday.

The diplomatic spokeswoman slammed reports from some foreign media outlets claiming that, by concurring to hold consultations, Moscow is ‘demonstrating its willingness’ to ‘shoulder responsibility’ on the matter as "devious fantasies."

"The same is true about the rumors on the possibility of discussing some compensation to absolve any guilt at the talks," she added, castigating this hype as nothing but ‘fake’ news.
