Russian House in Baku continues its operations

According to the February events schedule, an exhibition "Mystery of Silhouettes" showing works by the students of artist Vafa Asadova will open at the Russian House on Friday

BAKU, February 7. /TASS/. The Russian information and cultural center (The Russian House) in Baku continues to function normally, a representative of the cultural center told TASS.

"The Russian House is now open to the public. The events will be announced within the day," the worker said.

According to the February events schedule, an exhibition "Mystery of Silhouettes" showing works by the students of artist Vafa Asadova will open at the Russian House on Friday, and a charity fair organized jointly with the Azerbaijani Youth Association of Russia is scheduled for Saturday.

Earlier on Thursday, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ayhan Hajizadeh said that on February 3 Baku sent a note on the cessation of the Russian House's activity due to its lack of registration as a legal entity. The head of Russia's Agency for International Humanitarian Cooperation, Yevgeny Primakov, confirmed that the cultural center in Baku had received a note from Azerbaijan regarding the need for official registration. He also said that the Russian House in Azerbaijan should vacate the rented premises within a month and a half in connection with the landlord's statement about plans to sell it in the near future.
