MELITOPOL, December 5. /TASS/. The Russian Armed Forces have made advances in the area south of the city of Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and are actively fighting to liberate the settlements of Stariye Yaly and Konstantinopolskoye, Chairman of the Civic Chamber Commission on Sovereignty, Patriotic Projects, and Support of Veterans Vladimir Rogov told TASS.
"Russian troops have liberated an area of over ten square kilometers [3.9 square miles] to the south of the Sukhie Yaly rural community and entered the southern part of the settlement. [Our troops] have advanced two kilometers [1.2 miles] deep into the Konstantinopolskoye area and entered the eastern part of the settlement. Active combat continues," the official said.
He added that Russian servicemen had liberated roughly three square kilometers (1.2 square miles) of land area. "Essentially, [the operation] involves clearing a pocket of land south of Kurakhovo," Rogov said.
