HANOI, November 23. /TASS/. Hanoi attaches great importance to its traditionally friendly relations with Moscow, Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong said at a meeting with Russia’s Kaluga Region Governor Vladislav Shapsha, who is on a working visit to the southeastern Asian republic.
"In Vietnam, great significance is placed on the traditionally friendly ties and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia. I am confident that your working visit to Vietnam will help bolster our relations," the Vietnamese president said. He noted that in October, on the sidelines of the Belt and Road forum in Beijing, he and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a "sincere and open meeting and a focused exchange of opinions on many issues in order to further boost the ties between Vietnam and the Russian Federation."
The Vietnamese leader also gave high marks to the achievements of cooperation between the Kaluga Region and Vietnam, noting that they are a "vivid symbol of traditionally friendly relations between Vietnam and Russia."
The Kaluga Region governor noted that the potential for cooperation between the two sides remains enormous. The Kaluga Region boasts a strong automotive industry, transportation and logistics sphere, wood processing, food, hi-tech agriculture and power industry. According to Shapsha, the region’s enterprises are interested in fostering interaction with their Vietnamese partners in these and many other spheres. "We are hoping that our working visit to Vietnam will help in significantly increasing the development dynamics of our partnership," Shapsha wrote on his Telegram channel following the meeting with the Vietnamese president.
