West seeks to set ex-Soviet nations at odds via tendentious reading of history — Lavrov

The foreign minister pointed out that German government embarked on course towards rewriting of history of World War II and rehabilitation of the Third Reich

MOSCOW, May 27. /TASS/. Western states continue their attempts to drive a wedge between nations of former Soviet Union, using tendentious interpretation of history, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Friday.

"The westerners continue their attempts to drive a wedge between nations of the former USSR by using tendentious interpretation of historic facts," he said.

Lavrov pointed out that German government embarked on course towards rewriting of history of World War II and rehabilitation of the Third Reich.

"Recently, German government approved the concept of the so-called ‘World War II and German Occupation in Europe’ documentation center. After first glance, this concept causes serious questions regarding compliance with historic facts," the Minister underscored. "The structure of the envisioned center is planned in such a way to not only diminish the contribution of the Soviet Union and all USSR nations in defeat of German Nazism, but also to obscure the crimes of the Third Reich against the people of the USSR".
