Russian stock market switches to decline after opening higher on Friday, yuan grows

The yuan slowed its growth to 13.764 rubles

MOSCOW, January 3. /TASS/. The Russian stock market switched to a decline after opening higher on the first day of trading in 2025 while the Chinese yuan grew against the Russian ruble, the market data showed on Friday.

As of 10:00 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX and RTS indexes edged up by 0.33% to 2,892.64 and 896.19 points, respectively. Meanwhile, the Chinese yuan grew by 9.4 kopeks to 13.799 rubles from the previous trading on the foreign currency exchange, the latest data showed.

By 10:06 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX index switched to a decline, decreasing by 0.42% to 2,871.05 points and the RTS index also went down by 0.42% to 889.5 points. The yuan slowed its growth to 13.764 rubles, the market data showed.
