MOSCOW, May 26. /TASS/. The Kalashnikov Group is demonstrating for the first time at the 1st International Security Forum a drone of its own design that can carry FPV drones, the group told TASS.
"The Kalashnikov Group is presenting for the first time its new, unique systems with vertical takeoff and landing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the Fortis, at the International Security Forum under the auspices of the Russian Security Council. The UAVs included in these systems can act as carriers for FPV drones and, after release, control them via signal relay from a ground control station, significantly increasing the range of FPV drones for various missions," the statement reads.
The Fortis UAV boasts stable communications at a range of up to 100 km and can deliver payloads of up to 18 kg. It can remain airborne for up to eight hours, simultaneously conducting aerial monitoring and carrying out aerial logistics operations.
Kalashnikov has developed three versions of the system: the Fortis-30, which can carry payloads of up to 5 kg, reach a cruising speed of up to 90 km/h, and fly at an altitude of up to 2,500 m; the Fortis-50, which can carry payloads of up to 7 kg, reach a speed of up to 100 km/h, and fly at an altitude of up to 3,000 m; and the Fortis-100, which can lift payloads of up to 18 kg, reach a cruising speed of up to 110 km/h, and perform missions at an altitude of 3,000 m.
A single Fortis system can comprise up to four UAVs. At the customer's request, the system can be supplemented with a flight simulator, a basic flight training simulator for the crew, and diagnostic stands for various UAV systems.
