HAIKOU /China/, March 1. /TASS/.The city of Sanya on the southern coast of Hainan Island hosted the 3rd China-Russia Dialogue International Forum on February 28 - March 1, where Russian Ambassador Igor Morgulov and Chinese Ambassador Zhang Hanhui delivered video messages.
This was reported by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies under the Administration of Publication and Distribution of Foreign Language Literature of the People's Republic of China.
The event was organized by the China Public Diplomacy Association, the Russian International Affairs Council, the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies and the Beijing Club for International Dialogue. Russian and Chinese experts specializing in current issues of diplomacy, economy and trade discussed the role of Moscow and Beijing in creating a multipolar world and promoting cooperation among the countries of the global South.
The Forum participants also paid attention to Russian-Chinese cooperation and joint research in the Arctic, as well as the development of bilateral cooperation in the financial sector. In the course of the dialogue, consensus was reached on a number of important issues related to the strengthening of strategic relations between Russia and China, the protection of multilateralism, the expansion of pragmatic contacts and the deepening of humanitarian exchanges.
Wu Hailong, head of the China Public Diplomacy Association, and Ivan Timofeev, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council, addressed the conference in person. Yu Yunquan, President and research fellow of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, deputy head of the Foreign Language Publishing and Distribution Administration of the People's Republic of China, and Han Hua, head of the Beijing Club for International Dialogue, also participated.
The experts gathered in Sanya concluded that the geopolitical games of the leading powers and the accelerated formation of a multipolar world have created favorable opportunities for promoting cooperation between Russia and China.
The ongoing changes have also demonstrated "the strategic value of Russia-China relations, which are characterized by maturity and stability".The experts emphasized the key stabilizing role of the two states in the international arena and their importance in multilateral mechanisms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, the UN Security Council, the G20 and APEC. According to the participants, by strengthening cooperation, Moscow and Beijing will "contribute positive energy to the maintenance of regional peace and the development of global governance".
The Sanya Russia-China Dialogue Forum was held for the first time in 2024. Its goal is to create an institutionalized platform for public diplomacy and strategic dialogue between Chinese and Russian think tanks and to strengthen their international influence.
