NATO considers use of ATACMS missiles in Ukraine reckless, indiscriminate — NYT

The newspaper notes that, since Ukraine received an authorization from the UK and the US, Kiev carried out at least six missile strikes, using 31 ATACMS and 14 Storm Shadow missiles

MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. /TASS/. The United States and NATO believe that the ATACMS missiles should have been used more cautiously in Ukraine in regards to their number and targets, The New York Times said.

According to the NYT op-ed, the West believes that "Ukraine could have been more judicious in the number of missiles used and more selective with targeting." The article also says that Kiev "is running out of missiles" and "it also might be running out of time: President-elect Donald J. Trump has said publicly that allowing US-made long-range missiles inside Russia was a big mistake."

The newspaper notes that, since Ukraine received an authorization from the United Kingdom and the United States, Kiev carried out at least six missile strikes, using 31 ATACMS and 14 Storm Shadow missiles. The Ukrainian military does not comment on the use of these missiles, the report points out.

During a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida earlier, Trump called US President Joe Biden’s decision to use US-made weapons for strikes deep into Russian territory erroneous and foolish.

On November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that the US and its NATO allies announced earlier that they authorize the use of long-range precision weapons, which was followed by strikes at Russian military facilities in Bryansk and Kursk regions. In response to these attacks, Russia used the newest Oreshnik ballistic missiles with a non-nuclear payload at the Yuzhmash military factory in Dnepr (Dnepropetrovsk). The Russian leader underscored that the West’s provocative policy may cause severe consequences for the West in case of further escalation of the conflict.
