Slovenian parliament rejects initiative to designate Russia as terrorism sponsor — agency

According to the report, the committee voted to reject the proposal, put forward by the Slovenian Democratic Party and its leader, former prime minister Janez Jansa

LJUBLJANA, March 8. /TASS/. The foreign policy committee of the Slovenian parliament’s lower chamber has rejected a proposal to designate Russia ‘a state sponsor of terrorism,’ the Slovenian Press Agency reported.

According to the report, the committee voted to reject the proposal, put forward by the Slovenian Democratic Party and its leader, former prime minister Janez Jansa.

State Secretary at the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Union Affairs Samuel Zbogar said the European legislation had no such category or list of countries.

The Radio and Television Corporation of Slovenia reported on February 22 that Prime Minister Robert Golob did not support the idea.

The European Parliament on November 23 passed a resolution that mentions Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. The Russian Foreign Ministry said the move was a part of Europe’s anti-Russian campaign and has nothing to do with reality.
