MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. The deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has advised the officials in Kiev who wish to exchange the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk, for prisoners of war "to lock the door well for the night, if they do not want to find themselves on a list of persons proposed for an exchange."
"Some freaks who position themselves as ‘Ukrainian authorities’ have been saying that they wish to make Viktor Medvedchuk confess at gunpoint, to quickly convict him on allegedly ‘fair’ grounds, and then to exchange him for prisoners of war. Such types should stay on guard, looking around all the time, and keep the door locked well for the night, if they do not want to find themselves among those to be exchanged," Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Tuesday said Medvedchuk had been detained. He uploaded to his Telegram channel a photo of a handcuffed man looking like Medvedchuk. He suggested exchanging the politician for Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the authenticity of this photo was still to be verified in the light of numerous falsehoods on the Ukrainian side.
