Italian couple appeals to Putin for Russian citizenship — TV

Italian war correspondent Andrea Lucidi also said that he had requested a Russian passport from the president

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. A married couple from Italy has sent a request for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s annual Q&A session, asking for Russian citizenship, Rossiya-24 television reported from the event's call center.

The TV channel’s correspondent said that apart from Russian nationals, European Union citizens are also sending requests to the event’s call center. The majority of these people calling the hotline express their desire to move to Russia "and ask Vladimir Putin to help them get Russian citizenship." One such request has come from a married couple from Italy, the correspondent noted.

Italian war correspondent Andrea Lucidi also said that he had requested a Russian passport from the president. The journalist told Channel One that his mother was in Italy, while his work involves reporting from the special military operation zone. "I have already requested Russian citizenship from President Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] just because at this point, Russian citizenship can ensure my freedom," the reporter said.

The majority of requests from Russian nationals are focused on the domestic agenda, while last year, most of the questions concerned international politics.

The head of state’s combined annual press conference and question-and-answer session will take part at the Gostiny Dvor venue on Thursday.
