Logistics have been determined for the return of the collection of artworks that belonged to Russian art patrons Mikhail and Ivan Morozov from Paris to Russia, these treasures of art are anticipated to return home by May, Russian Presidential Envoy for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi told reporters on Monday.
"All the logistics for the return of the Morozov collection have been worked out. I hope that they will be in Russia by the May holiday season," he said.
A spokesperson for the Paris-based Foundation Louis Vuitton told TASS on April 4 that the exhibition had ended on the night of April 3 and after that, the process of returning the paintings to the Russian museums and galleries that own them began.·The exhibition, dubbed Morozov Collection. Masterpieces of Modern Art, opened at the Foundation Louis Vuitton in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron on September 21. It was initially scheduled to end on February 22, 2022, but was at some point extended until April. The exhibition included works by Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Auguste Renoir, Edouard Manet, and Henri Matisse, as well as by Konstantin Korovin, Valentin Serov, Kazimir Malevich, Natalia Goncharova and Pyotr Konchalovsky. A total of 1.2 mln people went to see the exposition.
