Lavrov to attend CIS Foreign Ministers Council meeting

The ministers will take stock of 2026 activities, discuss cooperation prospects, and mark the CIS's 35th anniversary

TURKMENBASHI, October 7. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will attend a meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Wednesday in Turkmenbasy's Avaza zone, ahead of this week's CIS summit.

The ministers will take stock of 2026 activities, discuss cooperation prospects, and mark the CIS's 35th anniversary. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said there will be an exchange of views on regional issues, with decisions expected on cultural, humanitarian, and law enforcement cooperation.

The ministers will approve a 2027 consultation plan and set the next meeting's date and venue. Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the CIS Council of Heads of State meeting in Turkmenistan on October 8-9.
