MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. A lot of those, who had earlier been engaged in tracking down people evading mobilization, are now being deployed to the frontline, particularly to the Kursk area, Sergey Valchuk, a Ukrainian prisoner of war (POW) who had previously led an escort group, said.
"The commander of an escort group, used to track down draft evaders. Captured over 100 people. Most of our people are being removed from their positions and are sent to the Kursk direction. <…> I could have refused but the price was high, the colonel asked for a lot - $10,000. I didn’t have that kind of money, and neither did my colleagues, so we all ended up in the Kursk area," the POW said in a video shared by the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to him, he surrendered at the earliest opportunity, following which he was fed and given cigarettes.
