No Russians killed in Magdeburg car attack, information on injured being updated — embassy

At least five people got killed and 235 were injured as a result of the attack

BERLIN, December 24. /TASS/. There are no Russian citizens among the victims of the car attack in Germany’s Magdeburg (the State of Saxony-Anhalt), while the information about the injured is still being updated, the Russian embassy in Germany told reporters.

"We have received information form the German Foreign Ministry’s crisis center that, according to the law enforcement, no foreigners were killed in Magdeburg, meaning, there were no Russians as well. The information about the injured is still being updated," the embassy said.

On December 20, a BMW 20 driver intentionally drove the car into a crowd at the Christmas market in Magdeburg. At least five people got killed and 235 were injured. The authorities of Saxony-Anhalt and Magdeburg called the incident a terror attack.

The suspect, Taleb A. is a Saudi citizen, born in 1974. He was apprehended at the scene. The man arrived in Germany in 2006 and obtained a political refugee in Germany in 2016. He has been arrested and put into custody.
