STOCKHOLM, December 23. /TASS/. The ongoing crisis in Ukraine will only conclude when Kiev and its Western backers finally acknowledge the necessity of a peaceful resolution and accept compromise, Russian Ambassador to Sweden Sergey Belyayev stated.
"It is difficult to predict the timeline for resolution. The conflict will end when Ukraine and its Western sponsors understand that a peaceful settlement is unavoidable. Such settlements are always achieved through dialogue and mutual compromise," Belyayev remarked during an interview with Finland’s Iltalehti newspaper.
In a mid-June meeting with senior officials from Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined key prerequisites for resolving the situation in Ukraine. These include Ukraine withdrawing troops from the Donbass region and territories of Novorossia, as well as abandoning aspirations to join NATO. Additionally, Moscow demands the removal of all Western sanctions and guarantees of Ukraine’s non-aligned, non-nuclear status.
