Russian prime minister to meet with Xi Jinping in Beijing

They are expected to discuss the development of Russian-Chinese relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation

BEIJING, December 20. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who continues his two-day working visit to Beijing, will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday.

They are expected to discuss the development of Russian-Chinese relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation.

It will be the third meeting between Mishustin and Xi this year. In March, the Chinese leader paid a state visit to Moscow and held talks with the president and the prime minister.

Mishustin pay a visit to China in May, travelling to Beijing and Shanghai.

Wednesday’s meeting will take place against the backdrop of a devastating earthquake that struck China’s provinces of Gansu and Qinghai on Monday, claiming the lives of 126 people. During his Tuesday’s meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Mishustin said Russia was ready to help in post-quake relief efforts if necessary.

 

Results of governmental talks

On the first day of his visit, Mishustin took part in the 28th regular meeting of the heads of governments of Russia and China. The sides addressed enhancing economic ties, developing humanitarian contacts and boosting energy cooperation. They have spoken in favor of broadening cooperation in various spheres, including car industry and mining.

The premiers said Russian-Chinese relations were at their highest level ever. In their opinion, further development of bilateral ties will be beneficial for both countries.

They adopted a joint communique in conclusion of the twenty-eight scheduled meeting of heads of governments of the two countries, but has not been published yet. Also, nine other documents were signed in their presence.
