Ukraine’s military loses 285 troops in Donetsk area over past day

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. Russian forces struck Ukrainian army units in the Donetsk area, killing and wounding roughly 285 enemy troops over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Battlegroup South Spokesman Vadim Astafyev reported on Monday.

"In the Donetsk direction, units of the southern battlegroup supported by aircraft and artillery fire repulsed five enemy attacks and inflicted damage on 23 amassments of manpower and military hardware of the Ukrainian army’s 77th airmobile, 5th assault and 10th mountain assault brigades in areas near the settlements of Kleshcheyevka and Soledar and the Berkhovka reservoir. The enemy lost as many as 285 personnel killed and wounded," the spokesman said.

Russian forces also destroyed a Ukrainian T-72 tank near Krasnogorovka and a Kirpi armored vehicle near Artyomovsk (called Bakhmut in Ukraine), he added.

In counter-battery fire, Russian forces knocked out four Ukrainian 120mm mortars in areas near the settlements of Ivano-Daryevka, Kleshcheyevka and Krasnoye, the spokesman said.

Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems and small arms fire shot down three Ukrainian army’s Furia, Katana and FPV drones near Berestovoye, Artyomovsk and Krasnaya Gora in the Donetsk People’s Republic and also four HIMARS rockets, he added.
