Biden weighs meeting with Putin at G20 or APEC summits

Yury Ushakov said earlier that Putin could attend the G20 summit in November, but the final decision will made and confirmed later

WASHINGTON, October 6. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden is weighing the opportunity to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin at either the upcoming Group of 20 summit of the APEC summit to discuss the situation around Ukraine and other issues.

"That remains to be seen," Biden said in response to a question from TASS about chances for the leaders to meet at these summits to discuss Ukraine and other issues. He didn’t elaborate.

Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said earlier, Putin could attend the G20 summit in November, but the final decision will made and confirmed later. The G20 summit is slated to be held on the Indonesian island of Bali on November 15-16.

Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said on Wednesday that the decision on the format of Putin's participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Bangkok in November will be made closer to the time when it will take place. Thailand’s Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said earlier that his country hoped that the Russian president would be able to attend the APEC summit, which will be held in Thailand on November.
