Russian Pacific Fleet’s marines participating in Ukraine special operation, says commander

For the first time since 1945, the Pacific Fleet’s separate marine infantry brigade has been assigned the honorary "Guards" title by the Russian president’s decree for successfully accomplishing assigned missions, Fleet Commander Admiral Sergey Avakyants noted

MOSCOW, May 20. /TASS/. The participation of the Russian Pacific Fleet’s marines in the special military operation in Ukraine will add new elements to their combat training, Fleet Commander Admiral Sergey Avakyants said on Friday.

"The Pacific Fleet’s marine infantry forces are taking part in the special military operation. Our combatants are fighting more than worthily," the admiral said in an interview with the Defense Ministry’s Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper on the occasion of the Fleet’s 291st anniversary.

The participation of the Fleet’s marines in Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine will add new, alter and supplement existing elements of combat training, taking into account the invaluable experience they have gained in the present-day warfare, the admiral pointed out.
