MOSCOW, September 16. /TASS/. The implementation of Russia’s development plans depends on the efficiency of its parliament, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on Thursday.
"We have a lot to do together. And the implementation of all our plans depends to a larger extent on the savvy, competent work of the State Duma (lower parliament house - TASS)," he said.
The president recalled that the lower parliament house is a key body within the system of state authority in Russia. "It plays a major role in the legislative process, in adopting laws having the supreme judicial power, ensuring the protection of the rights and interests of people. The federal budget, a basic financial document of the country, is also passed by the parliament. It creates the basis for the implementation of the government’s social liabilities, for the implementation of the programs of support to families with children, plans for the development of regions, cities and villages of our big country," he said, adding that it is difficult and scrupulous work that excludes populism and empty promises.
"It requires the highest professionalism, clear understanding of the fact that the fates of millions of people are behind each decision, each legislative amendment," he stressed.
