MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. YouTube's slowdown in Russia is mostly due to issues on the side of the video sharing service rather than the country’s authorities, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"About YouTube's slowdown, there are, perhaps, more issues there on YouTube's side than our side," he said at his question-and-answer session answering a question from blogger Vlad Bumaga.
According to the president, after the West began imposing numerous sanctions against Russia, Google, the owner of YouTube, practically stopped financing its subsidiaries in Russia and reduced the supply of equipment necessary for the platform to work well.
"That’s how it created certain problems for itself," he said.
Putin congratulated the blogger on 80 million subscribers.
"Eighty million is, of course, a unique achievement. It means that the content you create meets the expectations of those 80 million people," he said.
