Alcohol sales in Russia rise to 220.4 mln decalitres in 2022

The figure does not take into account sales of beer, cider, mead, as well as alcoholic products sold by public catering enterprises

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. The volume of retail sales of alcoholic products in Russia in 2022 increased by 3.5% compared to 2021 and reached 220.4 mln decalitres, the Federal Service for Alcohol Market Regulation reported on Tuesday.

The figure does not take into account sales of beer, cider, mead, as well as alcoholic products sold by public catering enterprises.

During the reporting period, sales of alcoholic beverages with a strength of more than 9% increased by 6.8% to 113.15 mln decalitres. At the same time, vodka sales climbed by 5.9% to 76.2 mln metric tons, while cognac sales increased by 5.3% to 12.7 mln decalitres. Sales of alcoholic beverages with a strength of up to 25% fell by 44.5% to 1.7 mln metric tons, while sales of alcoholic beverages with a strength of more than 25% grew 28.8% to 11.6 mln decalitres, according to the department.

At the same time, sales of low-alcohol goods climbed by 46% in 2022 to 16.1 mln decaliters, grape wine - by 0.8% to 53.4 mln decaliters, and sales of sparkling (champagne) wines increased by 8.6% to more than 20 mln decaliters. ales of grape-containing drinks without ethyl alcohol fell 45.8% year on year to 5.1 mln decaliters, while sales of grape-containing drinks with ethyl alcohol fell 11.4% to 1.5 mln decaliters. Fruit alcoholic product sales fell 18.3% to 10.1 mln decaliters and liqueur wine sales increased by more than 2.5 times, reaching 756,000 decalitres.
