MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. Russia’s flagship airline Aeroflot and its subsidiary Rossiya, after extending the suspension of flights to that region, cancelled flights to southern Russia until March 14, according to a statement on the air carrier’s website.
"Passengers of the cancelled flights can issue a forced refund in full, rebook tickets for subsequent dates, or choose alternative routes," the statement said.
The airlines extended the suspension of flights from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Anapa, Simferopol, Gelendzhik; from Moscow to Belgorod and Voronezh; from Krasnoyarsk to Krasnodar, from Simferopol to Sochi and from Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar to Yerevan.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency extended the suspension of flights to airports in southern and central Russia until March 14. Flights are suspended to Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista. Other Russian airports, including international ones, operate as usual.
The Federal Air Transport Agency recommended airlines to use alternative routes through the airports of Sochi, Volgograd, Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol and Moscow to fly passengers to the closed airports.
Earlier, Russia closed the airspace in its south until March 8 over the special military operation. Airspace in the south of the country has been shut down since February 24.
